"Special Use" of Goldendale Observatory entails visiting the facility during dates and times not normally available to the public. Please review the special use policies listed below before submitting a request. Special Use Requests are not automatically approved.

Available Dates & Times:

• Any date or time which does not conflict with our regularly scheduled Observatory programs and events.*
  *Requests for times immediately following regularly scheduled programs are more likely to be approved.  

Application Window:

• Applications must be received no later than two weeks prior to requested event and no sooner than six months.
• Applications outside this window are automatically rejected. 

Visit Duration & Group Size:

• The maximum combined duration of special use per-week is 10 hours.
• Special Use reservations are intended for groups, not individuals. The minimum number of attendees permitted at a given time is 20. The maximum is 100.

Pricing & Services:

• $400 per 2-hours for exclusive use of Observatory and grounds; includes guided interpretation and telescope viewing.
• $300 per 2-hours for exclusive use of Observatory and grounds; includes staff safety monitoring but no live interpretation nor telescope usage.​
• Picnic tables, indoor rest rooms, and complimentary Wi-Fi are standard.

Payments & Liability:

• Cash, Check, and Visa/Mastercard are accepted in-person upon group arrival.
• Visitors will be held responsible for any facility damage or equipment loss.
• A photo ID from the group organizer is required and a copy will be kept on file until no adverse findings are confirmed.
